The librarian groups books by purpose and genre. A graphic novel tells a story partly through pictures. Science fiction imagines scientific possibilities, while a biography concerns a person's life. A detective story follows clues. A recipe book gives cooking instructions. Pupils may describe a setting as dark, empty, tiny or huge, but they should support an interpretation with details rather than judge only the cover.
