The club compares activities such as horse-riding, squash and golf without assuming all are available at its centre. A guidebook uses north, south, east and west to describe places. A field, wood, valley and bay are different landscape features. Pupils read about the tide before discussing a coastal trip. Any real activity needs suitable supervision, equipment and local guidance; a language exercise does not replace them.
