Dear Mum and Dad, I reached my college residence on Monday. My room is small, but the shared kitchen has helped me meet other students. The welcome meeting was useful; I learned where to borrow books and how to ask for help. At first, I could follow my tutor's careful English, but fast conversations at lunch were difficult. I now ask people to repeat unfamiliar phrases, and this is helping. Classes begin next Tuesday. Until then, I am finding the rooms and joining activities. I have chosen a gardening group because working outdoors makes me feel at home. Please tell my sister that I will call on Friday. Love, Rana
